20 Hearths.Four neighbourhoods.Gathering new possibilities for everyday energy.

DELOCA is inviting apartment communities, energy companies, food businesses, local makers, campuses and city organisations to participate in the Sydney Pilot.

This is a live business-development programme demonstrating how portable low-carbon energy can become part of everyday life across homes, local commerce, businesses and neighbourhood communities.

Twenty Hearths will move through homes, businesses and public-facing places across Redfern, Surry Hills, Green Square and Darling Square. Participants can use or host a Hearth, test a defined opportunity, or co-develop a new application with DELOCA.

Enrolment in the Sydney Pilot is open now. We are beginning testing and engagement with a limited number of participants and partners through the three Partnership Pathways below. Get in touch with us early.

Whether you would like to purchase or host a Hearth, test a defined business idea or co-develop a new service over the DELOCA platform, we would like to hear from you.

THE SYDNEY PILOT

Moving with new energy, shaping experiences,a new market, reaching places.

DELOCA is a new low-carbon battery-charging platform, and the Hearth is a portable energy object designed for everyday life. Together, they bring stored low-carbon electricity into balconies, courtyards, cafés, parks, beaches, markets, campuses, wellness spaces and events, a new way of energy, shaping personal space and empowering new businesses with greater agency.

By distributing 20 Hearths across four neighbourhoods, the Sydney Pilot brings together four domains.

A

Energy

How can portable storage respond to solar-rich, lower-carbon periods while leaving people in control of when and how they charge and use energy?

The pilot will test flexible consumer loads, carbon-aware charging and portable stored energy during peak-demand periods. It will connect energy-system signals with everyday decisions made by households and businesses, including those without rooftop solar.

B

Experience

How can product design, digital services and user control make energy participation more experiential, trusted and enjoyable?

The pilot will examine aspects of user control, live carbon-intensity information, participation experiences, charging experiences and different forms and types of incentives.

C

Markets

How might incentives for low-carbon energy use create productive relationships among households, businesses and local communities?

The pilot will explore how local offers and collaborations involving New South Wales and Sydney-based producers, makers, businesses and neighbourhood networks, can be integrated as incentives for low carbon charging.

D

Place

How can people collect low-carbon energy and move it between apartments, balconies, hospitality settings, parks, markets, courtyards, campuses, cultural venues and neighbourhood events?

The Hearth is more than an energy-storage product. It is adaptable and movable energy infrastructure that can support new activities, interactions and relationships with place making.
